Common questions
You are based in Hong Kong and Canada. Can you act for me if I live elsewhere?
Yes. U.S. tax obligations are set by U.S. law, not by where you or we are located, and we work remotely through secure document exchange, video calls, and electronic filing. Our offices in Hong Kong and Canada cover our two core regions, and we serve clients worldwide.
I live in the U.S. Why would I need an international tax specialist?
Because the international rules apply to your assets, not your address. A foreign brokerage account, property abroad, an inheritance from a non-U.S. relative, or shares in a family business overseas can each add filings to an otherwise ordinary U.S. return that many domestic preparers rarely handle.
How does a remote engagement work?
We start with a consultation by video call, then provide a written scope and fee. Documents are exchanged through a secure portal, and we review the return with you before anything is filed. The process is the same as working with a local accountant, without the office visit.
I am thinking about giving up my U.S. citizenship or green card. Can you help?
Yes. Expatriation has its own tax rules, including the covered expatriate tests, the exit tax, and Form 8854. The outcome depends on the state of your filings beforehand, so we bring clients into compliance first, then model and prepare the expatriation.
